When looking for bargains on watches, keep your eyes peeled for daily deals.

This past weekend I was browsing through the fine selection of clothes at an Express store in my local mall and happened to pass by the small display of designer watches they had inside.  Each watch was Express branded either by the word or the lion that has seen more recent use as their brand logo.  One watch caught my eye in particular: it was a black watch with a black band and a large black face.  The dials were metallic, as were the hands.  There was a nice, small metallic lion embedded just above the center of the face.  I saw the price below it and thought, “This is well within my price range.”  Then I look more closely at the watch and saw the band was not metal but a leather strap.  It looked nice but I am not interested in non-metallic straps on watches.  If it had a black steel band I would have bought it right then and there.  Unfortunately, I had to walk out of there without my prize.

Cool watches like these are hard to find as such reasonable prices.  Hopefully the next time I swing by, there will be a watch just right for me.

But a Seiko watch is. A Nixon is a little less expensive and just as suave; it can help you pull off an all black outfit with a dash of panache. And if you want to have your watch for a really long time, think about a Tag Heuer. The reason these watches are harder to find for an extreme deal is that they have scratch-proof crystals, meaning they’ll stay looking good longer.

When all’s said and done your watch should reflect your own personality and who you want to be.  It’s great if you can get a watch for a snap deal, but if you can’t don’t compromise — spend a little extra for something you love.

When it comes to really beautiful watches, I know what I like as soon as I see it. And as soon as I saw the Cartier Pasha watch for women, I fell in love with it. Especially in the awesome blue it comes in. This is, by no means, a cheap watch. The MSRP is about $17,000 and change, though The Watchery is currently selling it at a discount of about $14,000.

The band is lizard leather so it’s soft and contours to the wrist perfectly.  There’s a light blue sunburst affect on the dial and the strap itself has a sort of rainbow look to it in various light. The clasp on the band is 18 karat white gold. I am a sucker for white gold! It really is beautiful and I like the look of silver and white materials better than yellow gold. Besides, silver and blue play off each other very well and are quite beautiful in this design.

The numbers on the face are large and playful and the the markers for the hours are diamonds. You can’t get any classier than that. I’d love to have this piece on my wrist, though it’s a bit pricey for my tastes. Still, it’s a gorgeous piece!

Of course these Esq watches are great pieces but what makes them work so well in casual environments is that they have gone through ever conceivable effort to make them scratch resistant. This means I get to wear a sharp looking watch to the company golf outing and when a black tie event comes along I can wear the scratch free watch there as well.

Esq watches are a great balance of form and function. The sort of watch you could give your Dad for a big occasion or give your son expecting him to eventually “get it.” Mine rarely leaves my wrist and I would imagine your’s wouldn’t either.

So I fell in love with the Clerc CXX Scuba watch in white. Do you know how many diamonds are on this baby?  294 just on the lugs, bezel and dial. Another  32 are on the indices and 13 on the buckle. That’s 339 diamonds. I knew then and there I had to have this watch, no matter what.

Here’s the even better thing. It’s practically $20,000 at original price, but I found it on TheWatchery.com for just under $7,000. Like I said, I love my diamonds and don’t mind paying the price for them but hey, if you can save some money, you do it, right?

So now I wear this beauty out anytime I have some impressing to do, or just when I want to feel like a lady. Diamonds really are a girl’s best friend!

The Ambassador.

I’m a man who enjoys options. Surf and turf is just one way I enjoy the best of both worlds. Thus, I love having more than one watch. I enjoy a leather banded watch such as my Wittnauer Ambassador when I’m relaxing on the weekends, and a more stately one such as my Astor, while at the office.

These two watches represent my different personas, one at once rugged and refined, ready for anything; the other crystalline and classic, able to put on a good show and impress when necessary. I enjoy wearing them both equally. The looks of respect and admiration I get when I wear the Astor make me feel self-assured and confident; those I get with my Ambassador on my wrist make me feel capable and wise.

It’s great being able to cast different roles for myself. I don’t know how much of it is the watch I put on, and how much of it is me acting, but either way, I feel natural. And after all, “The world’s a stage and we are all merely players.”

So if you want to give yourself a different feeling when you introduce yourself at a party or  to a boardroom of colleagues, think about Wittnauer watches.

From the time I was a young adolescent, I owned a Timex watch with a stainless steel clasp. I remember that the more sophisticated looking fastener made me feel like a sophisticated adult. As I grew older, my interest in watches expanded to include luxury watches by brand name designers, such as Michael Kors, but I maintained my loyalty to Timex as well.

I am petite and have a small wrist, so I like watches that do not overwhelm it. Like my fixation for knowing the time, my fondness for watches has not waned over the years. If anything, it has grown and matured to appreciate a variety of watch brands and styles. I guess I am not ready to abandon my addiction.

It’s an elegant watch made for only the most elegant of ladies. You can wear this with your business casual attire or dress up your wrist for a night on the town. Sometimes simplicity works. Not to mention, rose gold beats out a yellow gold watch any day of the week. Yellow gold just looks like you’re trying to rich and important, but in reality, you’re not.

This IWC watch is gorgeous and makes me wish I could afford it. But at $8,720 from Time Imports, and the original at $10,900, it seems like it will be a long time before that’s possible.
